It was a house mix setup on a type of cart pulled by me whilst I controlled soundtrack and microphones and two other sound operators handled the positioning of wireless and battery powered speakers throughout the play. Trata-se do espetáculo “Bom Retiro 958 metros”, do grupo Teatro da Vertigem.Mas o Bom Retiro não é um pedaço qualquer de São Paulo… Porta de entrada da cidade – porque ponto de chegada e interseção de ferrovias – é historicamente local de chegada de imigrantes e hoje lugar de combinação/tensão entre as etnias que ali habitam e trabalham: judeus, coreanos e bolivianos entrelaçados pela indústria da confecção.Na experimentação artística criada pelo grupo Teatro da Vertigem (é mais do que teatro!) a cidade é palco, cenário e personagem. Através da música, da luz e da fala, atores (e espectadores) transformam o lugar contando a história… e a história que está por trás da história, lançando luz sobre o presente.Máquinas de costura, manequins, consumidores e o povo da rua pontuam todo o percurso: pelas ruas do bairro, dentro de um shopping, junto ao muro de pedra da linha do trem, nas ruínas da antiga “Casa do Povo”, expondo as contradições do mundo do consumo/da moda/das relações de trabalho, das relações de poder.No final, aprisionados nas ruínas de uma cultura judaica abandonada e quase extinta, costureiras, “crackeiros” e espectadores são expulsos com jatos de água e sabão.
